Welcome to Parakh Meghalaya

Transforming Education Through Competency-Based Assessment in Meghalaya

Welcome to the official PARAKH Portal of the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT) & SCERT, Meghalaya. We are bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.

Moving student evaluations from “What did you memorize?” to “What can you understand and apply?” in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).

What is the PARAKH, SCERT Meghalaya?

The PARAKH Portal is Meghalaya’s dedicated platform for monitoring, reviewing, and standardizing student assessments. Overseen by DERT Meghalaya, this portal serves as a unified roadmap for schools, educators, and policy makers to implement modern, fairer, and future-ready evaluation techniques.

By analyzing real-time learning data and tracking student benchmarks, the PARAKH framework ensures that every child in Meghalaya—from urban centers like Shillong and Tura to our most remote rural villages—receives an education that meets global quality metrics.

The Three Pillars Nurturing the Future of Our Learners

Our updated educational framework goes beyond traditional test scores. We evaluate student growth across three foundational axes:

  • Awareness 🧠 — Helping students become deeply reflective, self-aware, and conscious of their roles in society.
  • Sensitivity 💙 — Fostering empathy, inclusivity, and ethical responsibility within diverse classrooms.
  • Creativity 🌱 — Unlocking raw imagination and critical thinking to tackle real-world challenges locally and globally.

Seamless Transition: Equivalence of School Boards across India

To establish a level playing field for students across different educational systems, the PARAKH Portal integrates the national mandate for the Equivalence of School Boards. Working alongside State Boards, Central Boards, and International Boards, this module addresses disparities in evaluation metrics, curriculum standards, and question paper difficulties.

Through standard benchmarking tools like the Question Paper Template Analysis and the Equivalence Questionnaire, we are helping standardize assessments across boards. This unified alignment ensures seamless student mobility, allowing learners from Meghalaya to transition smoothly across states, secure equitable college admissions, and effortlessly accumulate credit points for academic, vocational, or experiential learning.

Regulatory Framework: Evaluation & Approval of Private Educational Boards

To expand high-quality educational choices while safeguarding student interests, SCERT and DERT Meghalaya are instituting clear pathways for the evaluation, registration, and quality mapping of private or alternative schooling boards operating within the state. In alignment with national PARAKH equivalence guidelines, any private board seeking recognition or operational validation within Meghalaya’s jurisdiction must undergo rigorous quality assurance auditing.

Approval is strictly merit-based and contingent upon meeting the state’s comprehensive educational benchmarks. Private boards must demonstrate absolute transparency in governance, maintain strict curriculum parity with NCERT/CBSE standards, and implement fair assessment models that prioritize competency over rote memorization. Boards that fail to maintain these high-quality pedagogical standards face immediate non-recognition, ensuring that every student in Meghalaya, regardless of their board, receives a verified, globally competitive education.
